Charity Jazz Gig

Attended the Jazz Talent charity gig. Was a great evening. Elisa and Jo Caleb were fantastic as usual with fluid sax from Vasilis Xenopoulos, smooth bass from Neil Charles and sublime keys from Ivo Neame. Jazz Charity Gig

Elisa and Jo Caleb are husband and wife jazz muscians who also run an agency called Jazz Talent. Elisa recently launched her debut album, Carry Me Home, which consists of some wonderful interpretation of standards as well as some original material (have a listen on Elisa’s MySpace).

This arrangement of Toto’s Africa by Andy Mckee is still one of my favourites. Looked it up on YouTube recently and found a more recent performance – truly inspired playing.

John Butler Trio

Read about John Butler in acoustic magazine and decided to check him out on YouTube. Great tunes. He uses a 12 string with the top G string removed – really creates an awesome full sound.

Reminded me a little of Newton Faulkner’s playing at the beginning of this song, called Ocean.
