Couple of years ago I bought a Boss loop pedal to use with my electro acoustic guitar. Problem with this is that the pedal needs to be hooked up to an amplifier in order hear the results. I’ve not used the pedal for a long time because my electric guitar amp is too big to fit in our place. So I was very intrigued when I stumbled across these:

Experimenting with brushes and found some “Dry Media” brushes. Charcoal, pencil type textures. Was good fun doing this – a little rushed but good fun. He’s a cute boy. Runs in the genes.

Grabbed a picture of my son and had a go at replicating it. Did this in Photoshop. Starting to get hooked. Forgotten how cathartic drawing is.

Here’s another effort using the graphics tablet. When I was a little younger I read a lot of Manga style comics and this sketch is an endeavour to emulate that style.

An illustrator friend kindly gave me his Intuos2 A4 drawing tablet. Had to order a new pen for it which arrived today. Very excited, as this means I can get back into drawing and painting without having to go through the whole rigmarole of paints, materials, brushes etc…

Charity Jazz Gig

Attended the Jazz Talent charity gig. Was a great evening. Elisa and Jo Caleb were fantastic as usual with fluid sax from Vasilis Xenopoulos, smooth bass from Neil Charles and sublime keys from Ivo Neame. I always love listening and watching drummers and Seb Roachford was just awesome. Was a great evening and I think there was a good amount raised for the Asharan Orphanage – I’ll update this post once I find out what the total was. Thanks for those who came down to support.
